NEA signs PPA with Ekikrit Byapar Company Pvt. Ltd.

    Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), the state-owned power utility has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Ekikrit Byapar Company Pvt. Ltd. to purchase 35.47 MW electricity generated by Bramhayani Hydropower Project.

    The project is situated in the Jugal Rural Municipality of Sindhupalchowk District.The source of water for this project is Langtang and Nyamyamsal River. As per the PPA, the run of river schemed hydroelectric has to complete financial closure within a year. According to the power purchase guidelines, the project will get Rs8.40 for a unit of electricity during the dry season lasting from December to May and Rs4.80 for a unit of electricity during the wet season lasting from June to November. Kulman Ghising, managing director at the NEA and Bharat Parajuli, Executive Chairman of the project signed the PPA today, on behalf of their respective organizations.

    Bramhayani Hydropower Project with 35.47 MW installed capacity, has 535.79m net head and 7.95m³/s design discharge in the basis of Q42.There is 994.35m long penstock pipe from desanding basin to powerhouse with 1.4m dia. Inside the power house total 3 vertical type pelton turbine each with 12.17 MW rated output will be installed to generate electricity. The generated electricity the powerhouse will be synchronized into Pantang S/S feeding point for National grid through 113kV single circuit line. The total cost for this project is NRs. 6985.92 million

    The required commercial (RCOD) operation date for this project is 29th July, 2023.
