NEA signs PPA for Upper Bramhayani Hydropower Project 15.03MW

    Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), the state-owned power utility has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Ekikrit Byapar Company Pvt. Ltd. to purchase 15.03 MW electricity generated by Upper Bramhayani Hydropower Project 15.03MW .

    Upper Bramhayani Hydropower Project is situated in the Jugal Rural Municipality of Sindhupalchowk District. This project use the water source of Langtang river. As per the PPA, the run of river schemed hydroelectric has to complete financial closure within a year. According to the power purchase guidelines, the project will get Rs8.40 for a unit of electricity during the dry season lasting from December to May and Rs4.80 for a unit of electricity during the wet season lasting from June to November. Kulman Ghising, managing director at the NEA and Bharat Parajuli, Executive Chairman of the project signed the PPA today, on behalf of their respective organizations.

    This Hydropower Project is having 15.03MW installed capacity with run of river scheme. It has 4.09 m³/s design discharge in Q45 model. The 413.88m lengthy penstock pipe will be anchored to the powerhouse to generate electricity through 2 units of Pelton Turbine each with 7.515 MW rated output. The total cost for this project is NRs. 2787.60 million.

    As per PPA, the project’s required commercial operation date is 29th July, 2023
