NEA signs PPA with Alliance Energy Solutions

    Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), the state-owned power utility has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Alliance Energy Solutions (P) Ltd. to purchase 910 kW of electricity generated by the Upper Sit Khola Small Hydroelectric Project.

    The Project is located in the Sitganga Rural Village Municipality of Arghakhanchi District and Sandhikharka is the nearest town. As per the PPA, the run of river schemed hydroelectric has to complete financial closure within a year. According to the power purchase guidelines, the project will get Rs8.40 for a unit of electricity during the dry season lasting from December to May and Rs4.80 for a unit of electricity during the wet season lasting from June to November. Jagadishwor Man Singh, deputy managing director at the NEA and Vishnu Bahadur Singh, Chairman of the project signed the PPA yesterday, on behalf of their respective organizations.

    The run of river scheme, Upper Sit Khola Small Hydropower Project has 42.55 km² of catchment area at head works site which is accessed by all weather motorable roads. There is 214m long penstock pipe from desanding basin to powerhouse with 86.47m net head. Two units of Horizontal axis Francis Turbine each of 455KW capacity will be installed inside the powerhouse and electricity generation from the powerhouse will be synchronized into Thada Sub-Station hub through 11kV voltage of transmission line.

    The required commercial operation date for this project is 20th August, 2020.
