Midim-1 Hydropower Project Records Satisfactory Construction Progress

Kathmandu: Construction of the 13.424 MW Midim-1 Hydropower Project, currently under development in Lamjung district, is progressing satisfactorily, according to a recent inspection and progress assessment.

The assessment was carried out by TAC Hydro Consultancy Pvt. Ltd., which is serving as the Technical Consultant to the Lead Lender (TCLL) for the project. The company is responsible for monitoring project progress and conducting technical bill vetting on behalf of the lead lender, Laxmi Sunrise Bank Ltd.

The run-of-river project, being developed in Lamjung district of Gandaki Province, will utilize a gross head of 347 meters.

During the inspection, the consultancy found that construction activities are proceeding in line with the approved schedule. It also reviewed the quality of construction materials, overall workmanship, and interim payment claims (IPC Bills) submitted by the contractor.

According to the company, the inspection confirmed the completion of major works, including the downstream weir, most sections of the flood protection wall, excavation works in the intake and gravel trap areas, and raft concrete works.

In addition, excavation, pipe laying, and installation activities are ongoing along the approximately six-kilometer-long pipeline route. So far, 48 meters of pipeline installation has been completed. At the powerhouse site, construction of the machine foundation has been completed, while reinforcement work for the shear wall is currently underway.

TAC Hydro Consultancy stated that the project’s overall construction progress is satisfactory, with significant advancement observed in key structures.
