KATHMANDU: Ganesh Karki, advisor to the Ministry of Energy, former president of the Independent Power Producers’ Association Nepal (IPPAN), and a prominent entrepreneur, has been honored with the Energy Leadership Excellence Award 2026 in recognition of his significant contribution to Nepal’s energy and hydropower sector.
The award was presented by former President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav.
Receiving the award, Karki expressed his gratitude to the organizers for the recognition. He said he was honored to receive the award, which acknowledges his contribution to the development of Nepal’s energy and hydropower industry.
Karki reaffirmed his commitment to continuing his efforts toward the sustainable development of Nepal’s energy sector. He also pledged to further strengthen his role in promoting the growth and expansion of the country’s energy and hydropower industries.

A former president of the Independent Power Producers’ Association Nepal (IPPAN), Karki is now widely recognized as a successful hydropower entrepreneur and a leading voice in the energy sector. However, his achievements did not come overnight. His journey is a remarkable story of perseverance—from the son of an ordinary farmer in Jhapa, to years of struggle on the streets of Kathmandu, dedication on the karate field, and resilience through the ups and downs of business.
