Kathmandu — Minister for Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation, Deepak Khadka, has directed an end to the delays and apathy observed in the ministry and its subordinate bodies. Speaking at a high-level review meeting held at the Ministry of Energy on Sunday, Minister Khadka instructed employees to be active, responsible, and focused on providing timely and efficient services.

“There have been complaints that files are being held up in the ministry and its subordinate bodies. From now on, ensure that the process moves forward in such a way that any file is decided within three days,” instructed Energy Minister Khadka.

He expressed dissatisfaction, stating that the overall progress of the ministry so far has not been satisfactory. Emphasizing that service delivery cannot be effective without transparency, efficiency, and accountability in performance, Energy Minister Khadka urged the employees to fulfill their responsibilities with honesty and a strong sense of duty.

“We call employees the permanent government, but in practice, that stability is not visible. Looking at the current working style, it seems like a student who studies all night but still ends up failing. Such a situation will no longer be acceptable,” he said. “Take your work seriously—achieving goals requires a system of rewards and penalties.”

With the monsoon season approaching, the Minister instructed the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology to focus on risk reduction through effective information dissemination. “It is essential to ensure timely dissemination of information about potential risks that come with the rains, so that alertness reaches the public level,” he said.

The meeting presented the physical and financial progress details of the Ministry and its subordinate bodies up to the Mid of May in the fiscal year 2023/24. After reviewing the presented report, the Minister also instructed the preparation of a concrete action plan to improve performance.
