The 140 MW Tanahun Hydropower Project under construction at Jhaputar, Rishing Rural Municipality-1, is implementing seven development schemes in the affected areas under its Community Responsibility Program.

According to the project, two schemes were completed in the last mid-April to mid-May. These include drainage construction on the Kilchok branch road in Myagde Rural Municipality-3 and improvement of the water source and pipeline system at Hoksetar in Rishing Rural Municipality-1.

So far, 96 schemes have been completed in the affected areas through the project. Under the community development program, activities related to community development and livelihood restoration are being implemented through consumer committees. The schemes operated by these committees are also regularly monitored by an environmental and social management service provider.

Currently, construction work is underway on several projects, including an access road up to the Machhdang–Tunibote trail bridge in Rishing Rural Municipality-7, the construction of the Phedikhola motorable bridge in Bhimad Municipality-5, and the Dadivan–Chulesi access road. Similarly, work has begun on supplying and transporting cables for four suspension bridges to be built over the Seti River connecting Rishing and Myagde rural municipalities at Chulesi, Tunibote, Blyang, and Tutuwa.

Likewise, construction is ongoing for a concrete bridge over the Wantang Khola in Bhimad Municipality-5, a retaining wall for the protection of the community building in Phulbari, Myagde Rural Municipality-5, and the construction of the building of Deepak Secondary School in Gairakhudi, Rishing Rural Municipality-1.

The project has stated that it cannot succeed without community cooperation, so social development activities have been given priority. It also mentioned that various social programs are being conducted with the aim of strengthening collaboration with local communities and successfully completing the project.

Under Package-1 of the Tanahun Hydropower Project, construction of the dam and other headworks structures is underway. Package-2 includes the main tunnel, powerhouse, and related equipment, while Package-3 covers the construction of the 220 kV Damauli–Bharatpur transmission line, all progressing simultaneously.
