Energy Minister Shrestha Visits Marsyangdi Hydropower Project Powerhouse

Damauli: Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Biraj Bhakta Shrestha, has inspected the powerhouse of the Marsyangdi Hydropower Project in Tanahun.

During the inspection, Minister Shrestha received briefings from the project’s technical staff regarding various structures, equipment, and the operational status of the powerhouse. He gathered information on the project’s generation capacity, operating system, and overall condition of the infrastructure.

On the occasion, Minister Shrestha emphasized the significant contribution of hydropower projects to the country’s energy security, stating that special attention should be given to increasing generation capacity and strengthening infrastructure. He also stressed that the effective operation and management of existing projects are essential for the sustainable development of the energy sector.

Acting Chief of the project, Sher Mohammad Hussain, briefed the minister on the overall condition of the powerhouse, its generation capacity, and operational aspects.

The Marsyangdi Hydropower Project is currently generating 69 MW of electricity. The project is regarded as one of the major hydropower plants contributing significantly to Nepal’s national power system.
