The Government of Nepal has appointed Prabal Adhikari as a Senior Energy Expert in the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation. Adhikari, a well-known figure in Nepal’s energy sector, was appointed by the decision of the Council of Ministers on August 29, 2024.
A retired Deputy Managing Director of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), Adhikari brings over three decades of experience to the role. With a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, he has been instrumental in the development of Nepal’s energy sector, particularly in the areas of policy, implementation, internal and external electricity markets, energy security, cybersecurity, and geopolitics.
Adhikari’s appointment has generated excitement in the private sector, given his extensive experience in the electricity trade department at NEA. His positive attitude towards the private sector and his close observation of its activities are expected to contribute significantly to the growth and development of Nepal’s energy sector.
