The government has projected to generate 1,846 megawatts of electricity within two years.
Similarly, the government has projected to produce 1,423 megawatts power in the winter season.
A total of 628 megawatts of electricity would be generated from run-of-the-river projects and 106 megawatts from reservoir-based projects after the construction of Kulekhani III. A total of 930 megawatts of electricity would be imported from India.
Similarly, 200 megawatts of electricity would be generated from renewable energy sources.
It has been estimated that the demand of power would increase by 12 per cent annually. According to the Nepal Electricity Authority, it is currently supplying 560 megawatts of electricity every day against the demand for 1,325 megawatts.
As per the action plan presented by the Ministry of Energy at the Agriculture and Water Resource Committee under the Legislature-Parliament, there would be power outage of around five hours daily during the winter season.
The energy ministry has projected that additional 295 megawatts of electricity would be generated from the run-of-the-river projects next year.
Similarly, a total of 1,067 megawatts of electricity would be generated from Kulekhani I and II, 580 megawatts would be imported from India.
An additional 100 megawatts would be generated from renewable energy sources.
The Nepal Electricity Authority stated that there would still be a shortfall of 356 megawatts of electricity.
The energy ministry has projected that total production of electricity would reach 1,567 megawatts if only 92 megawatts of electricity is imported from India next year.
