Kathmandu: Responsibilities of joint secretaries at the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation have been reshuffled.
Energy Minister Biraj Bhakta Shrestha reassigned the responsibilities of the joint secretaries through a ministerial decision. The officials affected by the reshuffle received their assignment letters on Friday.
Joint Secretary Sunil Poudel, who was transferred to the ministry from the Department of Electricity Development, has been assigned to head the Energy Division. Since his transfer to the ministry, he had been without a specific portfolio. Sandeep Kumar Dev, the Joint Secretary previously leading the Energy Division, has been transferred to the Water and Energy Commission Secretariat. Jeebachh Mandal, who had been serving as Secretary at the Water and Energy Commission Secretariat, has been transferred to the ministry, although no responsibility has yet been assigned to him.
Mandevi Shrestha, who was transferred from the position of Director General of the Department of Electricity Development, has been posted to the Electricity Regulatory Commission, where she will serve as Secretary. She has previously worked in the same role and brings prior experience as Secretary.
Joint Secretary Gokarna Raj Pantha, who was also transferred from the department, has not been assigned any specific responsibility. He is currently reporting to the ministry without a designated portfolio.
