TIKAPUR, Aug 16: Kailali district has been facing scorching heat and the fear of flood for the past couple of weeks. People are being scared of a possible flash flood no sooner than it starts raining in the district.
It can be easily presumed the extent of problems the people are facing in the absence of electricity during the present hot time.
There has been no electricity in Janaki Rural Municipality-6, Jagatpur of Kailali for the past 16 days. Hundreds of families in Jagatpur village have been deprived of electricity services after the transmitter here turned dysfunctional on July 31.
Locals commented that they were compelled to stay in the dark and survive a troubled life due to the disruption of the electricity service for long.
Nanda Bahadur Neupane, a local, said it was very difficult to survive a life in the absence of electricity in the flooding times. “There is a fear of snakes and insects during the night time. Besides, the hot wave does not allow us to sleep well,” he said, adding there is no certainty for the resumption of smooth electricity services.
Children and senior citizens are the most affected as the area is deprived of the electricity service. “I have two small children. They could not sleep over the night due to the hot temperature,” commented Samira Chaudhary, a local.
