CHITWAN, Aug. 4: The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) on Tuesday began energizing 11 kV underground and overhead power lines in Bharatpur under its underground electrification project.
The Pokhara-Bharatpur Distribution System Strengthening Project initiated the first phase of line charging from Tuesday morning for testing and operational purposes.
According to project chief Anand Subedi, the newly built 11 kV underground cable and overhead transmission line stretches from the Aaptari Substation through Aaptari Chowk, Pokhara Bus Park, Lila Chowk, Pulchowk and New Road to the Narayani riverbank.
The NEA urged residents to exercise extra caution during the initial charging process, warning that energising the network could pose safety risks.
Consumers have been advised not to touch or go near electric poles, transformers, feeder pillar boxes or any other electrical equipment and infrastructure in the area.
The authority also requested pedestrians and motorists remain alert while travelling along roads where underground cables have been laid. Parents have been urged to keep children away from electrical installations and prevent them from playing near the sites.
Subedi further warned against carrying out any excavation, digging or cable cutting in the charging zone without prior approval.
The underground cable network has now been completed, allowing the project to begin energizing the system before it enters regular operation.
