Baglung — Chandra Dhakal, President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, has stated that investment in tourism and hydropower should be increased to boost youth employment. He also noted that the government has initiated steps to create a business-friendly investment environment.

He emphasized that as foreign investors are showing interest in investing in Nepal, the government must ensure a conducive atmosphere for such investment. Dhakal believes that increased investment in tourism, hydropower, and agriculture could help make Nepal self-reliant. Speaking at a greetings exchange program organized by Dhorpatan Daily, a publication based in Baglung, he said that foreign investment could also play a key role in expanding employment opportunities.

He further stated that since the government has agreed to the agendas set by the Federation’s third executive meeting held last year in the Dhorpatan Valley, the path toward a more investment-friendly climate is gradually opening. He also expressed that recognizing and honoring investors would help reduce unemployment.

Dhakal noted that the government has already started working on key agendas, including lowering bank interest rates and repealing the black market law. He emphasized that these efforts are intended to shield Nepal from the impacts of the global economic crisis. According to him, the attention given by banks and the government to the decisions made at the Federation’s executive meeting has been instrumental in creating a more favorable investment environment.
