Mugu, Dec. 16: Hydro power investment worth more than Rs 60 million has been in limbo in Mugu district.

microhydropowerThe huge investment made for the construction of more than 24 micro hydel projects to illuminate district rural areas has been in the sorry state for no maintenance of the projects.

Mostly the projects implemented by Poverty Alleviation Fund (PAF) are in trouble due to lack of maintenance.

Currently, only eight out of 21 PAF-constructed projects are in operation in the district.

Likewise, other micro hydro projects on the run are 32-KW Khaptad Khola, 20-KW Rikhiya and 11-KW Sukadik whereas three projects operated by Remote Area Development Committee are in doldrums.

The hydropower investment of more than Rs 60 million is lying idle due to deficit coordination between hydropower users and investors after the completion of project construction and no arrangement of project maintenance fund, said the Mugu District Development Committee sources.
