China Commits to Boosting Nepal’s Energy Infrastructure with Technical and Financial Aid

Beijing — China has expressed its commitment to provide necessary support to Nepal’s energy sector. Wang Hongzhi, China’s energy administrator, conveyed the Chinese government’s willingness to offer the technical and financial assistance required for the development of Nepal’s energy infrastructure.

During a meeting with Nepal’s Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Deepak Khadka, who is currently on a visit to China, China’s energy administrator Wang expressed interest in the current state of Nepal’s energy sector and showed readiness for cooperation, Minister Khadka’s personal secretary Sandeep Rai told Kantipur.

Minister Khadka is currently on a visit to China to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Energy Ministers’ Meeting. On Friday, the day the meeting concluded in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, Minister Khadka held talks with Wang Hongzhi, the administrator of China’s National Energy Administration, discussing bilateral interests related to the energy sector.

During the meeting, Minister Khadka congratulated the Chinese government for successfully organizing the SCO Energy Ministers’ Meeting with warm hospitality. The discussion was held in a cordial atmosphere, focusing on strengthening the long-standing friendly relations, mutual trust, and cooperation in the energy sector between Nepal and China.
