Bhojpur: A free electricity connection program has been launched in Khoksik of Ramprasad Rai Rural Municipality–8, targeting underprivileged Dalit families in the district. The ward office has initiated the program with the objective of improving living standards by bringing electricity access to families who have spent years living in darkness.

According to Ward Chairperson Bachakumar Rai, free electricity connections have so far been installed in the homes of eight poor Dalit families. He said families deprived of electricity services due to financial hardship were identified and supported on a priority basis.

“We have provided free electricity connections to the homes of underprivileged families in the ward,” said Ward Chairperson Rai. “This is our small effort to bring light to families forced to live in darkness because of economic hardship.”

The ward office stated that a budget of Rs 200,000 had been allocated for the program. According to the ward, the arrival of electricity services has made daily life easier for local residents and has also positively impacted children’s education, household work, and security.

Local resident Sudarshan Gahatraj said the availability of electricity has removed evening darkness and made it easier to use modern technology. “Due to financial difficulties, I had not been able to install electricity at home,” he said. “I am very happy to be able to light my home with the ward’s support.”

Another local resident, Man Bahadur Bishwakarma, also said that after electricity was installed in his home, children’s studies had become easier and the family could now live in proper lighting conditions.
