Reservoir filling has started at the 969MW Neelum Jhelum hydropower project in Pakistan, as the project nears completion.
Located on the river Neelum in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJ&K), the project is in its final stage of development. The first unit at the four-unit project is expected to come online in February 2018, with the remaining three ready for test run by April 2018.
The project features a 60m high, 160m long dam with a total storage of 8207 acre feet. The water level at the dam is expected to be raised by 1-3m per day.
