Kathmandu: Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has completed load management work to resolve the excessive electrical load (overload) on the 33 kV Biratnagar-3 feeder under the 33/11 kV Tanki Substation. The load redistribution was carried out by the NEA Biratnagar Distribution Centre to ensure a more reliable electricity supply.
According to Ram Udagar Shah, Chief of the NEA Biratnagar Distribution Centre, electricity supply issues had begun to emerge on the Biratnagar-3 feeder due to rising demand. To address the problem, the operating configuration of the two 24 MVA power transformers at the Tanki Substation was modified. Power Transformer No. 1 has been connected to the 33 kV Biratnagar-2 feeder, while Power Transformer No. 2 is now operating from the 33 kV Biratnagar-3 feeder.
Shah said the load management has eliminated the overload on the Biratnagar-3 feeder, balanced the electrical load between the two power transformers, and enhanced the safety and reliability of the power system.
He added that electricity supply in the affected areas has now been fully restored. The load management is expected to improve the stability of the distribution system and enable the NEA to provide more reliable service to consumers.
