BIRATNAGAR, May 6: Chief Secretary of the Government of Nepal Leelamani Poudyal has pledged action against Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) employees involved in illegal power supply to industries.
During his meeting with the members of business community in Biratnagar today, the Chief Secretary said efforts were being made to immediately give relief to industries affected by power outage. Morang industrialists Kishor Pradhan, Rakesh Surana and Raj Kumar Golchha were present in the meeting.
Stating that the government has already formed a committee to probe into the matters that some industries inside the Sunsari-Morang Industrial Corridor are provided with uninterrupted power supply , the Chief Secretary said employees involved in such irregularities will be punished.
Secretaries at the ministries of industry and commerce and National Vigilance Center were also present on the occasion. At an interaction organized by the Business Forum Nepal yesterday on power irregularity, businessmen of Biratnagar almost resorted to scuffle accusing each other.
Then the Chief Secretary had called them to meet him this morning to pacify the situation.
Meanwhile, a team of Poudel inspected today the NEA Duhabi, Multifuel Diesel Plant Bansbari, and Sonapur- based Arihant Multifiber (Jute) Industry.
the occasion, NEA Acting Executive Director Mahendralal Shrestha said there is no direct supply of power from multifuel to industries. Centre´s Chief Shyam Sundar Jha said the multifuel is now closed and is operated only on orders from higher up
