
Kathmandu, September 25- Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation; Physical Infrastructure and Transport; and Urban Development, Kulman Ghising, held a courtesy meeting with the Ambassador of Switzerland to Nepal, Daniel Meuli.
During the meeting held at the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation in Singha Durbar, Ambassador Meuli congratulated Minister Ghising on behalf of Switzerland and extended best wishes for a successful tenure.
During the meeting, discussions were held on the implementation status of projects currently being carried out with Swiss support, potential areas of cooperation in the short and long term, Swiss investment, and bilateral cooperation, among other issues.
Expressing gratitude for the assistance provided by the Swiss government in Nepal’s development, Minister Ghising stated that the key priorities of the government formed after the Janajeev (Citizen’s Life) Movement are conducting elections, rebuilding public and government infrastructures damaged during the movement, ensuring good governance, and instilling hope among the youth.
He urged support for the promotion of electric vehicles, encouraging the use of electricity as fuel for household purposes, adopting in Nepal the tunnel technology that Switzerland has applied in road transport, promoting green hydrogen energy, and providing assistance for the necessary training to create employment through the establishment of small industries.
At present, with the support of the Swiss government, programs such as small irrigation projects, bridge construction, technical assistance for the Siddhababa Tunnel, and employment-oriented skill development training are being implemented.
Ambassador Meuli stated that the Swiss government is always ready to support Nepal in the fields of energy and infrastructure development.
