NEA to enforce five-hour load shedding in Kathmandu on Saturday

KATHMANDU, Aug 18: There will be power cuts for about five hours at 52 different places in Kathmandu on Saturday.

The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has issued a notification today, detailing the scheduled interruption as part of ongoing maintenance works to upgrade the projects.

The NEA’s notification explains that the disruption is necessary due to construction activities at the Lapsiphedi and Changunarayan substations. These projects are vital for enhancing the capabilities of the Teku substation and upgrading the Teku-Syuchatar 66 KV line to a more robust 132 KV system.

During this upgrade process, electricity services in different areas of Kathmandu will experience temporary disruption. The NEA has scheduled the interruption to take place from 10 AM to 3 PM. However, there is a possibility that the work could conclude ahead of schedule, resulting in an earlier restoration of electricity services.
