
Kathmandu – The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) celebrated its 40th anniversary highlighting significant achievements in the country’s power sector. On the occasion, the authority announced that domestic electricity consumption increased by 10.7 percent, reaching 11,319 gigawatt hours (GWh) in fiscal year 2081/82.
According to NEA, electricity availability in the national system has reached 15,641 GWh, while the total installed capacity connected to the grid has climbed to 3,591 MW.
Of the total electricity available, 34 percent is supplied by NEA and its subsidiaries, 55 percent by Independent Power Producers (IPPs), and the remaining 11 percent is imported from India.
