Makari Gad Hydroelectric Project in Darchula has started commercial operation.
The 10 MW project in Api Himal Rural Municipality is a run-of-the-river type project.
The project is being implemented through Makari Gad Hydroelectric Project Limited, a special-purpose vehicle with Sri Lankan-based company LTL Energy Pvt Ltd (LTLE) as its main shareholder.
LTLE is a subsidiary of LTL Holdings Ltd, a leading company in South Asia with power plant experience of well over 1,000 MW of thermal and renewable power capacity in the region.
The local shareholder of MGHPL is Hydro Vision Company Pvt Ltd, which was responsible for most of the pre-development activities of the project.
The generated electricity from the powerhouse will be fed to the substation 132/33 kV through a 27.2 km long 33 kV single-circuit transmission line.
The project has been financed by Sanima Bank (Lead Bank), Kumari Bank, and Prabhu Bank. The project is built under the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) modality. (PR)
