Taplejung, May 21 : The electricity generation of Iwa Khola Hydropower Project, currently owned by Ridi Power Company Limited, has stopped for five days.
The electricity production has halted since Thursday night after a problem arose in the project’s power house.
The production has been halted due to problems in various equipment in the power house of the hydropower project, which is produced electricity from the Indrawoti River, which flows along the border of Taplejung and Panchthar.
The project has a total capacity of 9.9 megawatts.
According to the project, as the problem arose in the equipment of the power plant, repairs and installation and management work is underway by bringing in new equipment.
It said that the repair and installation of equipment and materials will be completed within a few days and electricity production will continue.
According to the project, the water level in the river is currently increasing and the project was generating full capacity electricity. The problem has led to the shutdown.
The production will start as soon as the project maintenance and equipment installation work is completed.
The hydroelectric project was built under the promotion of the then Rairang Hydropower Company.
During the rainy season last year, the project was damaged by floods and landslides, causing production to be halted for three to four months.
The structure damaged by the floods and landslides has been reconstructed and brought into operation at a cost of millions of rupees, according to Ridi Power Company Limited.
