Floodlight Tower Installation Completed at TU’s Kirtipur Cricket Stadium

Kathmandu, October 19, 2025 — All six floodlight towers have been erected at the international-standard cricket ground under construction within the premises of Tribhuvan University (TU) in Kirtipur. The construction company completed the installation work after erecting two more poles in a single day on Sunday, marking the completion of all six towers.

At the stadium, six high-mast lights—each 45 to 60 meters tall and weighing about 30 tons—have been installed. Floodlights have already been partially installed on poles number 1, 4, 5, and 6. Project chief Chakrabarti Kanth stated that since all the poles have now been erected, the installation of lights on the remaining two poles will begin soon.

Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Physical Infrastructure and Transport, and Urban Development, Kulman Ghising, inspected the international-standard cricket ground under construction on October 9, 2025. Both construction contractors had committed to completing the installation of the parapet and floodlights before the start of the (NPL). The contractor responsible for the parapet has already completed the work. The NPL is set to begin on November 17, 2025.

The government has approved the master plan, designating the project as a national priority, and has decided to begin the second phase of the stadium’s expansion. The Cabinet meeting held on October 16, 2025 approved the master plan of the stadium based on the proposal from the Ministry of Urban Development and designated it as a national priority project. According to the master plan, around Rs. 10 billion has been allocated to move forward with the second phase of construction.
