T_StationMYAGDI: With the locals finally agreeing to the compensation amount for ceded land, Nepal Electricity Authority is likely to set up its sub-station at Darbang of Myagdi soon.

Earlier, though the power utility had been seeking the land necessary for its 33KV transmission line a year ago, they had failed to get the land which affected the plan directly.

The sub-station construction had been in limbo after many attempts to settle the dispute over compensation among stakeholders mostly ended inconclusively.

According to Chief District Officer Tek Bahadur KC, the process of commandeering the land has began with locals agreeing to provide the land for construction of the sub-station.

“Earlier, we were worried as the locals refused to provide the land, but now as they are ready to part with their land for fair compensation, the construction of the sub-station is likely to start soon,” said KC. The sub-station is estimated to cost around Rs 110 million. “We’ll provide compensation this fiscal and the sub-station will be completed in three years,” said NEA Myagdi distribution centre Chief Krishna Prasad Adhikari.
