RASUWA, May 23: Rasuwagadhi Customs Office is starting customs clearance suing computerized system from June 16.
The customs office along Nepal-China border is implementing globally-recognized Asycuda (Automated System for Customs Data) instead of the manual systems of clearing import and export of goods through the customs point.
Punya Bikram Khadka, chief of the Rasuwagadhi Customs Office, said that the new system will make the customs clearance process faster and more efficient.
The system makes both customs officials and importers/exporters responsible for clearance of goods from the customs point. “Traders or their agents can make customs declaration electronically,” added Khadka.
The Department of Customs (DoC) is also implementing computerized system for customs clearance at the Tatopani Customs Office – the second customs point along Nepal-China border – which is resuming operation after a gap of four years.
The customs office has remained closed since the 2015 earthquakes.
Rasuwagadhi Customs Office, which came into operation after the Tatopani Customs Office suffered damages in the 2015 earthquakes, was declared international transit point in 2016.
