Electricity supply has been disrupted following a technical problem in the 12 MVA 132/33 kV power transformer at the 220/132/33 kV substation located in Markichok, Aanbukhaireni Rural Municipality-2 of Tanahun.
According to the Tanahun Distribution Center under the Nepal Electricity Authority, the outage occurred after a fault developed in the transformer’s earthing system, causing excessive current flow and disrupting the line from 5:32 PM yesterday.
The substation has been supplying electricity to Aanbukhaireni in Tanahun, Gorkha district, and some areas of Chitwan district via Muglin.
A technical team from the Pokhara Grid Directorate has been deployed to resolve the issue. The team restored the line at 12:45 AM last night, but the transformer had to be shut down again at 6:47 AM today after the same earthing system problem reappeared, said Beni Nepali, information officer at the Tanahun Distribution Center.
According to him, efforts are underway to resume electricity supply through an alternative line. Authorities are also preparing either to repair the transformer if possible or replace it with a new one if necessary.
The Nepal Electricity Authority stated that the technical team from the Pokhara Grid is currently stationed at the Markichok substation carrying out repair and management works.
