Kathmandu — On Sunday evening, Minister of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Deepak Khadka, conducted an on-site inspection at the Kalimati No-Light branch located in Kuleshwar. During the visit, he gathered information regarding consumer complaints and the state of the electricity distribution system. Minister Khadka was briefed on the issues related to electricity supply seen in various areas under the No-Light branch, consumer grievances, and possible technical difficulties.
Minister Khadka clarified that the electricity currently being produced in the country is sufficient to meet the demand, stating, “There will be no load-shedding, and it will not be allowed to happen.” Earlier, during a National Assembly meeting held on Chaitra 6 (March 19), the minister had said that load-shedding was occurring in the industrial sector and that it could soon affect households as well.
He stated that certain groups or individuals were deliberately spreading rumors in the market, and he urged the general public not to be misled by such misinformation. “In previous years, the problems were more severe than they are now,” he said. “The current situation is comparatively manageable. Even if brief issues arise due to unusual weather, strong winds, or lightning, they are being resolved quickly. Now, rest assured— all staff and agencies are working responsibly.”
During the same on-site inspection, Minister Khadka also made an unannounced visit to the Load Dispatch Center (LDC) located in Syuchatar. Through the LDC, he observed the status of electricity flow across the country and obtained firsthand information about the state of technology and personnel management.
Minister Khadka directed the employees of the Nepal Electricity Authority to work responsibly and be accountable to the consumers. He emphasized the need to stay alert against unverified information and false propaganda circulating in the market, as such messages can create confusion among the general public. “We have succeeded in buying electricity at a low cost and selling it to India at a higher price,” he said, adding that electricity trade is being utilized in the national interest.
The inspection team included Energy Secretary Suresh Acharya, Managing Director of the Nepal Electricity Authority Hitendra Dev Shakya, and other technical officials.
