Nepal – USA Hydropower collaborative Tour

    A high level Nepalese team is in the Portland USA in a Nepal-USA Hydropower collaborative Tour from 11-17 July 2016. The tour is focused on the learning about the development of hydropower, environmental management and basin planning of the US Pacific North-West. The team comprised of Honorable MP Gagan Thapa, Secretary Suman Sharma, Secretary Thakur, Secretary Udaya Thakur, Secretary of WECS Dhan Bahadur Tamang, President of IPPAN Khadga Bahadur Bisht and other high level dignitaries from Nepal. The tour also will visit the dam, reservoir and power operating facilities along Colombia River and also get information on operating of plants and selling of electricity. The Colombia river basin alone produces over 38 GW of hydropower and provides navigation to four U.S. pacific states.

    IPPAN initiated an interaction with the Nepalese residing in Oregon and Pacific Northwest. IPPAN president made a keynote presentation on which Honorable Member of Parliament Gagan Thapa, Mr. Suman Prasad Sharma Secretary Ministry of the Energy put their views on contemporary political status and hydropower  development. The visiting team encouraged Nepalese residing in the US to invest in Nepal and keep their relationship with their origin.

    IPPAN
    IPPAN initiated a program with Nepalese Association of Oregon (NAO) at Intel Corporations’ large facility at Johns Farm in Portland.
