Kathmandu. Nepal Electricity Authority has decided to provide compensation of Rs 19.50 lakh to an employee injured by electric shock during transmission line maintenance.
The authority’s board of directors, in a meeting held on Wednesday evening, decided to provide Rs 19,78,301 as treatment and other compensation to the employee injured while working in the field.
According to Anshukiran Shahi, a member of the Authority’s board of directors, Sandesh Magar, also known as Sher Bahadur Magar, 25, from Khotang, working in the Melamchi distribution center’s area in Aambote of Melamchi Municipality-10, was injured in an electrical accident due to electric shock on 26 March 2026, while changing a 15 KV transmission line disc pin. He was taken to Sushma Koirala Memorial Hospital for treatment. The treatment cost Rs 9,78,301.
As per the Nepal Electricity Authority’s Electricity Compensation Regulations, it has been decided to provide a total of Rs 19,78,301, including Rs 10 lakh as compensation and Rs 9,78,301 for treatment.
Magar has already received an advance of Rs 10 lakh. The board has given approval to provide the remaining Rs 9,78,301 to the injured through the concerned distribution center as per the regulations.
Member Shahi said the decision was made by the board of directors.
