Nabin Raj Singh Appointed as Director General of DoED

Kathmandu. Nabin Raj Singh, the head of the policy division of the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, has been appointed as the director general of the Department of Electricity Development (DoED). This responsibility was assigned to him by the ministerial decision of August 1. He has led the department twice before.

According to the same ministerial decision, after assigning the responsibility of the department to Singh, the current Director General, Jeebachh Mandal has been transferred to the secretariat of the Water and Energy Commission. Mandal was appointed as the director general of the department on 22 January 2024. He remained in that position for about 6 months.

According to the ministerial decision of the 17th, Joint Secretary of Water and Energy Commission Chiranjeewee Chataut, has been transferred to the Policy Division. Before Mandal, Chataut held the responsibility of director general of the department.

Singh held the post of Director General of the department for the first time from August 17, 2073 to January 16, 2075 BS. After that, he was transferred to the Water and Energy Commission and was the Secretary of Koshi Province for about 2 years. Recently, he was assigned the responsibility of the policy division of the ministry, which is considered very important.

Similarly, Chatout, who passed SLC from Baijnath Secondary School in Mahendranagar, Kanchanpur in 2041 BS, entered government service as an engineer in 2052 BS. He passed ICS from Siddhanath Science Campus in Mahendranagar and completed his Bachelors in Electrical Engineering from India and Masters in Water Resources Development from Roodkee University.

Initially, he worked in the field of underground irrigation and joined the department in 2061. He held the responsibility of Deputy Director General for 3 years.

Similarly, Mandal, who entered government service as an engineer in the department in November 2053, was promoted to joint secretary in January 2071. Before entering the responsibility of the department, Mandal completed his responsibilities as an electrical section in-charge at Janakpur cigarette factory and as a deputy professor under the electrical engineering department at the western regional campus in Pokhara for 1 year.

Mandal has completed his graduation in Electrical Engineering from Aligarh Muslim University and Masters in Hydropower and Management from Roorkee University under the Colombo Plan.
