Kathmandu — Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Kulman Ghising, has said that the Mechi Highway will be temporarily reopened by tomorrow.

During an on-site inspection of the areas in Ilam that were damaged by floods and landslides on Saturday, Minister Ghising assured that the highway would be opened by tomorrow.

He also said that a study will be conducted for the construction of an alternative road to the Mechi Highway. “We will study and construct an alternative road to the Mechi Highway.

A major disaster has struck Ilam. The government has prioritized relief distribution and reconstruction efforts. Ilam district has been declared a crisis-affected district,” Minister Ghising said, adding, “Now, we will focus on rebuilding and restoring infrastructure.”
