Minister for Environment, Science and Technology, Dr. Keshav Man Shakya, has said that development of environment could not be done as media houses in Nepal did not pay attention on the development of environment and alternate energy.
Inaugurating the orientation workshop seminar “Solar energy and bio-gas technology in Nepal” organised for media persons, Shakya stressed that media houses should write for investment in water resources as the country remains backward due to lack of technology and resources though it is the second richest country in the world for water resources.
He said that the media houses should make people aware in the development of energy rather than politics.
At the seminar jointly organised by the Nepal Environment Journalists’ Group and the Ministry, Executive Director at the Alternate Energy Promotion Center, Dr. Govinda Raj Pokhrel, said that alternative energy is very important to balance the environment and to fulfill people’s needs.
A total of 22 media persons of eight districts of the eastern region are participating in the two-day seminar.
