Decline in water current at Kaligandaki ‘A’ hydropower centre has limited production from the largest power house of the country to just 55 MW.

Water current at the hydropower centre located at Srikrishna Gandaki VDC in west Syangja is just 55 cusec instead of the normal 144 cusec, said chief of the Nepal Electricity Authority, Kaligandaki ‘A’ hydropower department, Dirghau Shrestha.

Normal water current would help produce 144 MW of power. As a result of the decline in water current, the project is producing 55 MW on an average through two turbines, added Shrestha.
