Govt allows forest use for Lower Arun and three other hydropower projects

Kathmandu: The government has decided to grant approval for the use of national forest areas for four hydropower projects, including the Lower Arun Hydropower Project.

According to government spokesperson and Minister for Communications and Information Technology Sasmita Pokharel, the decision was made during a Cabinet meeting held on Tuesday at Singha Durbar.

As per the decision, permission has been granted to use national forest areas for the Lower Arun Hydropower Project, the Lower Nyadi Khola Hydropower Project, the Huncha Khola Hydropower Project, and the Tadi Khola Hydropower Project.

With the approval for forest area use, the construction and infrastructure development processes of these projects are expected to become smoother. The government stated that the decision aligns with its policy of strengthening the energy sector by expanding hydropower generation capacity.
