February 18, Kathmandu – Dr. Ram Prasad Dhital, Chairman of the Electricity Regulatory Commission, has stated that efforts are being made to simplify the regulation of hydropower projects.
He mentioned that they are working to facilitate the process of submitting documents to the Securities Board, the Company Registrar, and the Regulatory Commission when hydropower projects issue initial public offerings (IPOs).
“We only oversee the technical aspects of hydropower projects,” said Commission Chairman Dhital. “We grant prior approval on whether hydropower production is feasible or not. We are discussing with the Securities Board on how to simplify the current process.”
