The dispute regarding the land of Dhalkebar-Sitamarhi 400/220 KV double circuit international transmission line has been resolved. Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Minister Deepak Khadka on Monday conducted an on-site monitoring of the area and showed proactivity in resolving the land compensation dispute.
Minister Khadka has solved the problem by sitting with the stakeholders after a dispute over the disputed land (right of way) of the 400/220 KV double circuit transmission line from Dhalkebar to Sitamarhi constructed by the Arun 3rd Hydropower Project. Along with solving the problem, it has also been agreed to resume construction of the line immediately . Minister Khadka instructed the concerned parties to complete the installation of 400/220 KV (315 MVA) transformer to be installed at Dhalkebar substation on behalf of Arun 3rd hydropower project within 15 days including testing commissioning.
After the installation of the said transformer, Nepal will be able to export up to 1,000 megawatts of electricity to India. It has already been agreed in the joint technical mechanism meeting between Nepal and India.
Ministry’s senior energy expert Prabal Adhikari said that solving the problem is not only for the Arun 3rd hydropower project but also a great achievement from the point of view of international electricity trade.
Since the Nepalese government will get 21.9 percent of the electricity produced from Arun 3 for free, if the electricity is not needed for consumption in Nepal, it can be exported to India through this transmission line. The country’s largest Dhalkebar sub-station of 400 KV has been constructed using ‘GIS’ technology. .
Along with Minister Khadka, Suresh Acharya, Secretary of the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Prabal Adhikari, Senior Energy Expert of the Ministry, Kulman Ghising, Managing Director of Nepal Electricity Authority and others inspected the substation.
