Kathmandu: The Independent Power Producers’ Association, Nepal (IPPAN) has decided to coordinate with the government and provide necessary support for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of citizens and power projects affected by the devastating flood in the Bhotekoshi River.
The 206th emergency meeting of IPPAN’s Executive Committee, along with a joint meeting of its advisors held on 27 August 2026, expressed condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the flood disaster across Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha, Chitwan, Tanahun, and other districts. The meeting also wished for the speedy recovery of those injured.
Expressing sorrow over the damage caused to operational and under-construction hydropower projects by the Bhotekoshi flood, the meeting paid tribute to employees and workers who lost their lives in the disaster.
According to IPPAN, it has decided to provide financial assistance of NPR 50.55 million (Rs 5 crore 5 lakh 50 thousand) to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund on behalf of IPPAN and its affiliated hydropower companies.
IPPAN Chairman Mohankumar Dangi said the cheque for the assistance amount will be handed over at an appropriate time in the presence of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Minister Biraj Bhakta Shrestha.
Chairman Dangi stated that the energy sector is closely linked not only to Nepal’s prosperity but also to the joys and hardships of the Nepali people, and therefore the sector must stand united during times of disaster.
“When all member companies come together during a disaster, it can bring significant relief and hope to the lives of affected families,” he said.
He also urged all IPPAN member companies to actively and generously contribute to this humanitarian campaign.
