Kathmandu, September 23 – A courtesy meeting was held between Kulman Ghising, Minister of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Physical Infrastructure and Transport, and Urban Development, and Rob Fenn, the British Ambassador to Nepal. During the meeting at the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation in Singha Durbar, Ambassador Fenn congratulated the newly appointed Minister Ghising and extended his best wishes for a successful tenure.

During the meeting, discussions were held on topics including the friendship and cooperation between Nepal and the United Kingdom, the UK’s support in the energy sector, potential investment opportunities in infrastructure, and the necessary assistance for measures to mitigate problems arising from climate change.

During the meeting, Minister Ghising stated that the main priorities of the government formed after the Gen–G movement are the reconstruction of structures damaged by the movement, holding general elections, and maintaining good governance. Appreciating the support provided by Nepal’s long-time friend, the United Kingdom, in Nepal’s economic development, he noted that the assistance for establishing charging stations to promote the use of electric vehicles and move Nepal toward a carbon-free future has been effective. He also requested support in areas such as adopting the public-private partnership investment model, which has been considered successful for infrastructure development in the UK, in Nepal as well as in green hydrogen initiatives and studies on potential glacial lake outburst flood risks caused by climate change.

Noting that Nepal’s success is also the success of his own country due to the longstanding friendship between the UK and Nepal, Ambassador Fenn stated that he would support Nepal’s economic transformation.
