Canada envoy leads business delegation to Kathmandu

    New Delhi, May 6 (ANI): Canada’s High Commissioner to India and Nepal Stewart Beck, is leading a four-day business mission to Nepal from May 5 to 8, 2013.

    The delegation, comprising representatives of Canadian companies, will focus on: infrastructure, including urban planning, roads, and transport; hydroelectric power; and the water and waste water sectors.

    The delegation will explore commercial opportunities in these sectors and gain a deeper understanding of the priorities, challenges and achievements of the current government in Nepal.

    On the eve of his departure for Nepal, High Commissioner Beck said: “Canada and Nepal have a long history of friendship and close collaboration. There is great potential to collaborate in key sectors for our mutual benefit. I hope that our visit will result in new business partnerships between Canadian and Nepalese companies.”

    During the visit, a series of meetings with government officials and private sector leaders have been planned to showcase Canadian expertise and to discuss potential business opportunities. Another highlight of the visit is the launch of the Canada-Nepal Business Executive Committee. This committee will include representatives from the Indo-Canadian Business Chamber (ICBC) and the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI).

    The delegation will comprise representatives of the following Canadian companies and organizations:

    Arcop Associates;

    Bombardier;

    Indo-Canadian Business Chamber;

    IRD Inc.

    Lea Associates;

    Manitoba Hydro International; and

    Premiertech Aqua

    Ballard Power Systems (ANI)
