
Birgunj: In the first six months of the current fiscal year, petroleum products worth Rs 90.06 billion have been imported through the Birgunj checkpoint. According to the Birgunj Customs Office, this amount is Rs 2.75 billion higher than in the same period of the previous fiscal year.
The Customs Office stated that Rs 37.85 billion in revenue was collected from petroleum imports during the first six months of the current fiscal year. In the same period last fiscal year, petroleum products worth Rs 87.31 billion were imported, generating Rs 36.14 billion in revenue.
According to Customs Information Officer Uday Singh Bista, there has been a significant increase in both petroleum imports and the revenue generated from them in the current fiscal year.
Customs data show that during the first six months of the current fiscal year, diesel imports worth Rs 45.38 billion generated Rs 19.85 billion in revenue. Similarly, petrol imports worth Rs 20.98 billion resulted in Rs 13.82 billion in revenue.
Likewise, during the same period, LPG gas imports worth Rs 14.79 billion generated Rs 2.77 billion in revenue, according to the Birgunj Customs Office.
