The World Bank invites expressions of interest from consulting firms to help implement the Nepal Sustainable Hydropower Program. Responses are due November 13.
The bank’s International Finance Corp. (IFC) pledged in April to provide US$6 billion in financing for the development of hydroelectric projects in Nepal. Additionally, the World Bank Group approved US$84.6 million in financing in May for Nepal’s 37.6-MW Kabeli-A hydroelectric project. Nepal recruited consultants in October to prepare basin plans for four rivers examining the availability of water resources for uses including hydropower.
The World Bank now seeks a senior hydropower/engineering firm to support development of a pipeline of investable hydropower projects in Nepal for IFC and other financial institutions, providing advice to developers and contractors to enable adherence to good international industry standards. The firm is to provide a lead senior hydropower expert to support the program “on the ground” in Nepal.
Expressions of interest and attachments totaling less than 5 megabytes are to be submitted in English by November 13, electronically via the World Bank’s eConsult2 Internet site, https://wbgeconsult2.worldbank.org/wbgec/index.html. A solicitation notice is available on the website under Business Opportunities, Solicitation No. 1163865.
The bank intends to invite a short-list of firms to submit proposals, subject to availability of funding.
