Hetauda: Tower construction has resumed in the Hatiya area of Hetauda under the western section of the long-stalled Hetauda–Dhalkebar 400 kV transmission line project. Work has gained momentum after an agreement was reached with concerned stakeholders through the initiative of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Minister Biraj Bhakta Shrestha.

Earlier this week, Minister Shrestha held discussions with local landowners and elected representatives, helping resolve compensation-related disputes. Following the settlement, landowners in the tower construction area accepted compensation, allowing construction to move forward rapidly.

It has been reported that within just one week, excavation and concreting works for the foundations of seven towers are already underway.

Under this transmission line project, which began construction in 2012, a total of 14 towers in the Hatiya area of Hetauda had remained unbuilt for years, leaving the project stalled for a long time. With the remaining tower construction process now advancing, the overall project is expected to move closer to completion.

Considered the backbone of Nepal’s power system, completion of this transmission line is expected to make electricity supply more reliable while also creating the infrastructure needed for power exports. It is also expected to provide major relief to the private sector.

Meanwhile, the eastern section of the project, the Dhalkebar–Inaruwa segment, was completed around three years ago.
