Two Bodies Recovered from Langtang Khola Tunnel, 41 Missing

Kathmandu: Two bodies have been recovered from the tunnel of the 20 MW Langtang Khola Hydropower Project in Rasuwa.

A Nepal Army team deployed for search and rescue operations retrieved the two bodies from inside the tunnel, according to the project’s manager, Bijayman Bhattarai.

He said that a team comprising hydro-mechanical engineers, personnel from the Nepal Army and Armed Police Force, and the project’s technical staff has entered approximately 150 meters into the tunnel and is continuing search and rescue efforts.

Bhattarai stated that 41 workers associated with the project remain unaccounted for. He added that rescuers had advanced about 150 meters into the tunnel on Wednesday, and the operation has been intensified since early Thursday morning.
