Kathmandu. The Independent Power Producers’ Association of Nepal (IPPAN) has postponed the Power Summit 2025 for the time being.
A meeting of the working committee held on Tuesday decided to halt the Power Summit temporarily.
“Due to recent developments, we have suspended the Power Summit. We will also consult with the Energy Minister. After holding consultations with all stakeholders, we will set a new date,” said IPPAN General Secretary Balram Khatri, adding, “We will definitely organize the Power Summit.”
IPPAN had already begun preparations for the “Power Summit 2025.”
The official logo for the ninth edition of the Power Summit, scheduled to be held in Kathmandu on October 15 and 16, had also been unveiled.
This edition of the Power Summit was to be organized under the main theme “Mission 28,500 MW: Powering Nepal, Energizing the Region.”
After the Gen-Z movement, the government led by KP Sharma Oli collapsed. An interim government has now been formed under the leadership of former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Sushila Karki.
Kulman Ghising has been assigned the responsibility of the Ministry of Energy, Physical Infrastructure, and Transport. Om Prakash Aryal has taken charge of the Ministry of Home Affairs, while Rameshwor Khanal has been given the portfolio of Finance Minister.
Due to vandalism and arson carried out by protesters in both public and private institutions, the economy itself has been affected.
Since a large number of participants from abroad were expected to attend the Power Summit, it has been postponed for some time, taking into account the adverse circumstances.
