Power outage reduced by 14 hours a week

    KATHMANDU: The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has reduced the time of power outage by 14 hours a week. The change in power outage schedules will be effective from Wednesday this week.

    According to the NEA’s notice published today, the load shedding hours will now be restricted to 70 hours in a week.

    Before this, consumers had to struggle with 84 hours of power outage every week.

    As per the new schedule, a group will have 9-hour power outage for two days in a week. The other two days will witness power cut as long as 10 hours. The remaining three days will have power cuts for 12, 10.5 and 9.5 hours respectively.

    According to the NEA, the power cut time can be altered by an hour depending on the favourable or unfavourable circumstances.

    The areas prone to electricity leakage will have to bear the brunt of an additional one to six hours of power outage.
