LoadsheddingKATHMANDU: The Nepal Electricity Authority has decreased power outage by two hours per day, effective from Monday, keeping in mind the upcoming SLC exams scheduled to begin next week.

The new power schedule will have 70 hours of outage a week. Currently, the country is facing 84 hours of power cut a week.

Outage hours have been reduced keeping in mind SLC exams, said Bhuwan Kumar Chhetri, Chief of NEA’s Load Dispatch Centre, adding that NEA has also urged once again to use powerful electric appliances, which consume more electricity, as less as possible.

Chhetri added that the electricity utility is yet to decide whether to keep the power outage time frame the same. “We will do accordingly depending upon the load, some time after two weeks,” he said.

Reduction in outage hours has been possible after the 144-MW Kaligandaki A Hydro Power Project, which was being repaired, resumed its operation from today. The project’s inlet valves have been repaired, said Chhetri.
