
KATHMANDU, May 6 : After five consecutive days of decline, the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) saw a slight recovery on Tuesday, with the index rising by 1.03 points to close at 2611.43.
The NEPSE index had climbed to 2625 within the first 15 minutes of trading but slipped slightly by market close. The market was supported by gains in five sub-indices, with the trade and hydropower sectors making the strongest contributions. The trade sub-index rose by 2.03 percent, while the hydropower sub-index increased by 1.40 percent.
Out of the total listed companies, share prices of 120 increased, while 126 declined. The biggest loss was recorded by investors in WEAN Nepal Laghubitta, whose shares hit the negative circuit breaker.
Total daily turnover stood at Rs 8.74 billion, with hydropower companies dominating the most-traded list. Sanima Mai Hydropower led the volume with shares worth Rs 928.9 million traded.
